Thanks! A pattern seems to be developing. The new consumer grade CF
recorders and usb/fw audio interfaces with mic inputs might be better
matched for concerts, instrument and studio recording.  Limited mic
pre gain might allow manufs to print better signal to noise specs.
The mic pres on the DAT walkmans, the MD's and HiMD's still have a
leg up in the mic gain dept. Rob D
