Might be a while for a price break on mic pre
quality though, not sure marantz will lead the
way.
Klas's findings on the R-1's decent mic pre
performance are encouraging. I assume one could
run the xlr outputs from Denecke PS-2 phantom
power supply to the R-1's PIP input with a simple
adapter (tie-off one side of the balanced
signals). Correct?
The other issue might be mic pre gain on the
R-1-- needs to be about 55dB or more for quiet
locations from my experience (ref 65dB for the
MP-2). Klas, did you looking into or notice
anything about mic pre gain you can report?
