You just added $400-$500 to the cost of the recorder, assuming you can
find a used MP2. And a whole lot less convenience. You are up into the
price range where you could think about looking at a Portadisc.

The MP2 is a excellent pre, but it is a extra thing to carry, and extra
cables to deal with.
