For using line in, yes, this combo would be much
better because signal to noise ratio is much
higher (better) for line inputs. The R-1 is 24
bit recorder and does seem to have a better mic
pre and costs less. If 16 bits will do, I use my
mp2 with a NH-900 line with good results. But
Mike said he was thinking about getting a 660
when the discussion started. Rob D
