I second this, I have never seen Walt fantasize anything, in most of the
e-mails posted to this group, 14860 and counting, I would say Walt has
contributed to probably half of these with his knowledge and know-how, I
have been astounded at his vast understanding and patience, without Walt
here I would never have had many of my questions answered and many a newbie
has been enlightened by his awareness.

Walt and Raimund:
Thanks to you both for this discussion. While it covers now very old
ground, it is also illuminating.
As one of the oldest members of this group (AND longest being a member ;^)=
I have read every word of both your posts.
Walt does, in my opinion, NOT engage in phantasy, and to say so is just
plain unfair. He correctly addresses the facts we who actually USE ATRAC
daily know to be true - there is no discernable masking of quieter tones by=
louder tones, nearby in frequency, in the daily use of minidiscs in nature=
recording. Fact, and we on the list do rightly give thanks to Walt for his=
continuing shepherding of these facts despite Cornell Lab of Ornithology -=
Library of Natural Sounds obtuseness on their web site.
I send my best regards,
