Hi,
sure: most of these steps will be obvious but just to make extra 100%
sure:
1) make sure all limiters, filters etc are off on the R-262) turn on
phantom 3) sensitivity as per factory settings (mid way)4) gain dials:
the issue can be heard at any level but turn it up high until you hear
the digital display sound, then dial it back - once your ears pick it up
you can focus on it even it really low gain levels.
I've uploaded a few short examples of these issues on both the R-26 &
the R-44 here:
r-26 & r-44 issues
<http://soundcloud.com/jrf-tests/sets/roland-r-44-r-26-issues>
(please note: these recordings were done by a frustrated me in a room
covered with microphones, adaptors, cables, battery packs, manuals &
various other arghhhh whats-going-on clutter - so don't expect them to
be with mics measured into the right positions :) - they were all made
with the mics placed as far from the recorder as possible in the room
though)
interestingly the only mic i've tried so far in the R-44 that somehow
(another total mystery) seem to result in the display noise issue is the
Sanken CUW-180 !

Still testing to work out if they sound the same though :)

I'll mention this to DPA & see if they can make any comment on whether
either the new or the older one would make any difference.

with a zener for 'hot plugging' protection. If you could get hold of and
try one of the earlier ones (or I could pm you the schematic to make
one) it may provide a solution.
