I have not attempted transferring cassette tapes to a digital recorder even 
though I have plenty of cassette tapes and a couple of good cassette decks 
left over from my transition to digital recording.  Mainly as at this 
point, I see no need for it.

However, if I were to attempt to transfer from one deck to another, I would 
use the Marantz PMD-661 recorder on the digital side for three reasons:
