Actually, that's Sony's MD Data Drive MDH-10.

If by "read" you mean, show up to your PC as files, no, there are *no*
solutions that will do this today, HHb and EDL system included.
If you mean, capable of transfering files as digital audio via SPDIF, then
yes, there are other options, but not portable recorders (except in the
HHb class). I use a Sony component JB-920 deck, which you could probably
find on eBay cheap, but it does not understand LP2 and LP4 I believe. Not
sure, I always record in SP.

Yep, April seems to be the right choice for you, as it will let you do
all-night recording and direct uploading of the files to your PC via USB.
The new MD decks are expected to run $200-400. The 1 GB capacity disks
will allegedly debut at $7/disk. Existing 80 minute MDs will be
re-formatably to hold about 300 MB, probably not long enough to do
all-night recordings unless you use the LP4 equivalent.
