just a matter of getting a li-ion powered firewire
enclosure no?

http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/storage/enclosures/ult31308/

with one of those you can not only back up to a drive,
but also,
if I read the faq right, make fullly redundant
recordings ala 722.

i'm grateful to sound devices for this.
another company might have not implemented this
capability, 'crippling' the 702 in the aims of selling
more 722 units, or 744T --
(since prior to this the only way to have a HD + time
code
was a 744T) but instead they went ahead and made
their gear as good
and useful as they can.....plus the fact that it's a
free hardware upgrade for people who already bought a
Message: 702.
Subject: ....I'm won over.

i've been trying to convince myself I 'need' one of
these....
and then trying to decide whether to get a 702T
or a 722 and this pretty much seals it for me....
