i suppose they dont quote self noise because there are
no active devices. generally speaking, for a given
impedance, higher the sensitivity, lower the noise
contribution of the microphone. i think the beyer m88
in particular is quieter than any condensor mike.the
sennheiser is quoted at 2 mv/pascal and the beyer at
2.9 mv/pascal, both at 200 ohms. the shure sm 58, a
much noiseir mic, is quoted at 1.9 mv/pasc, but at 300
ohms.
