We can agree to disagree.

However, the note on here was about how the MicDIY group had done
extensive discussion about the mic.

Yes, as far as I can remember, Dan mentioned his setup several times
before anyone became interested.

If I remember correctly, you got your first mkh-110 off a ebay auction
and then tried to corner the market in mkh-110's though a non-ebay
private deal. As many as you bought from a supply that had sat on a
shelf all the years since new, it's not too surprising some were not
fully functional. The 5 MKH-110's I have, all bought from ebay auctions
from the same source are just fine. So are the 9 other MKH mics I got
off ebay. From numerous sources.

I have watched ebay for the 183's, or did so for a while. If cheap
enough I considered playing with them. However, of the several auctions
I saw for them none went for under $250. Maybe it was just the
particular time and normally they go cheaper. I got my matched pair of
MKH-20's for $600 each. Excellent, looked unused, condition. ME-62's in
apparent good condition I've seen auctions go as low as $50 for them
with the K6. Though most go a bit higher.

Each person does what their ears like.

I know it's now your group.

Concert tapers or not, they talk like them. A great many still seem to
think the most important characteristic of a mic is how loud a sound it
can stand. The mainstay of the group is still panasonic capsules or the
equivalent.

There are certainly some in that group who are very expert. And some
that record outdoor subjects. Of those more would be like the
phonography folks than nature recordists. Unless nature recording is now
the place for those mixing compositions, which is what is the
characteristic of the phonography group that caused them to split away
from naturrecordists.

While the ME102 can be run through the K6 phantom system, it's primarily
designed to work with the SK50 wireless transmitter. It definitely does
not depend on a fet in the K6. I do not get the impression that
Sennheiser considers it part of the K6 system. More like a system of
mics (it's one of three) that are for wireless use.

As I noted, I believe it's sensitivity would be less than the Shure, but
it's self noise the same or slightly less.

I don't have one, have never used one.
