Yep, for my second pair I bought the BP versions, thinking I'd have 
more flexibility and be able to use them with pro gear. A huge 
disappointment, the BP preamps add noise and lower the output! But 
they're the same mics if you don't use the BP box.

I'm thinking of gutting the boxes and designing some simple 
transformerless phantom-to-PIP powering circuit for use with pro 
inputs. The 3K impedance of the raw mics may be a problem, but the 
only way is to try it and see.
