It sounds like I am in the minority in this thread being pc based but
thought I'd chime in. I use a program called CD Architect by Sony
(formerly by Sonic Foundry) that allows you to drop in and x fade
tracks over each other, and you have control over the type of fade.
What I like to do is similar to Dan's way of working, edit the file
offline (in your audio editor), add the fades and drop a single file
into CD Architect. Then I simply add the track in and out markers
where I would like them, no gaps.
