Hi Aaron--
No. I asked Marc Nutter at Sonic Sense about field application for
the earthworks and he said that low noise was not one of their
strengths. Close micing would allow for lower gain, but inherent
noise still affects clarity. I think one earthwork model specs at
10dB inherent noise, but Marc felt this was misleading. I think the
QTCI noise is quite high, around 30dB.

Assuming you're looking for full response and transparency and
thinking of spending some money, I'd recommend listening to a pair of
mkh-20's or an mkh-30/40 M-S pair. Nothing else I've tried compares
and I love that one can adjust the stereo image from binaural-like to
A/B-like in post. Less bulk than earthworks too. There's a rental
place in LA that's pretty reasonable. I'm basing these comments on
what I heard via Anapurna and your DSM binaurals. Beautiful work.
Best--
Rob
