It seems that there are individual Sennheiser K6 modules that exhibit that =
noise issue, but others don't. There is a more recent thread on this:

I can confirm that as my K6/ME66 (bought many years ago from eBay) inintial=
ly also showed that increased noise when it was powered from its internal b=
attery. I sent it in to Sennheiser Germany and they fixed the problem. Now,=
I cannot hear any differences between battery and phantom powering.
