Thanks for that, John. Where did you get the preamp noise figure for the LS-7, 
and do you have one for the DR-05? I'm sure I've seen these figures around, but 
can't find them now. I saw that Raimund gave it a ++ sound quality rating 
compared to the LS-7's ++++ on his Avisoft tutorial page, but I don't know what 
that will mean for the end result with an ME66.

It looks like an LS-7 will cost me close to double what a DR-05 would, due to 
postage costs to Australia. For some reason there are a few local Tascam 
dealers.
