I have a number of Neumann small diaphragm models whose serial numbers are thousands of digits apart & yet which, in use, are audibly as close to identical as I am able to hear. Consistency over many years of production runs is part of what you pay for with Neumann mics. It could very well be that a Rode mic you purchase this month will be essentially identical in response to another you purchase in 6 months. IOW don't assume that an officially non-matched pair won't in fact sound quite identical to one another. Scott Fraser |
