I think what they are referring to w/r/t 'cueing' is the action of quickly pointing the mic towards a source when there is more than one person speaking... you can see this done on some of the 'making of' documentaries included on DVD's where the boom person is tracking two actors who have dialog by snapping a mic back and forth between them on the end of an extended pole the larger zepp weigh more and might possibly slow down the speed of pointing/shifting the mic and add to joint strain over long periods -- depending on the physical condition of the boom op... I've done a little boom work for film but I'm taking a guess here since I can only imagine using an oversized zepp might slow things down a little for someone smaller with less strength... |
