...basically 'aiming' I believe. Anyway in a discussion with Rycote I asked about using a Zeppelin that is much bigger than the mic and was told this: "[a] lot of space between the front of the shield and the entry to the microphone itself - this causes potential cueing issues." Maybe it's really no issue, and they were just trying to make the case for buying specific kits for every mic you have. For nature recording perhaps 'aiming' doesn't carry the same gravity as in dialogue recording.
