Dear Kevin,

You may also consider Telinga Dat Stereo parabolic
microphone(www.bahnhof.se/~telinga/). I have recorded nearly 700 bird
species using an earlier version of this mic for last several years and
found it extremely reliable and giving very good sound quality . This will
cost you about USD 1700 or so.
