Hi everyone, thanks for the responses.

I note from other reading that the MKH series has a reputation for
withstanding humidity, but take the point that no gear is understood 100%
immune from failure in high demanding situations. Well there's a lot of
information for me to absorb and integrate, but I think in the final step i=
t's
going to be a question of me deciding on the best I can get then getting a =
ton
of experience when I'm out there! Who knows maybe I'll have something to
contribute when I get back : )

I've made an application to get hold of the second hand MKH 30/60 pair from
bblist that Chris posted about, if that comes through it seems a good
investment.

I must say I can't imagine coming to a better place for advice - this group
has expert written all over it! So thanks again and keep the responses comi=
ng,
I'm still to get the right second (main) recorder. The reason I specificall=
y
thought of a CF machine is because I already have some 4Gb CF cards.

Are you meaning that the quality of input from the ME series mics is not
hampered by the apparent noise from the MicroTrack?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but have to read and reread the posts so
far...

Cheers
Kevin
