I got that it was a unix core from one of the custom OS experts I know
when I was inquiring about possibly moving to Windows instead of OS X.
She tends to look directly at the structure and functioning of a OS
rather than history. Ok source if you don't mind listening to a lot
about the dummies that write OS's and how many obvious bugs they left
in. She more pans MS for buggy code than anything else. On XP, she
figured it would be better simply because it's bug count is down from Win20=
00.
Probably at core level there's a lot in common in these OS's,
particularly ones which come direct from the mainframe world. It's
amazing just how much mainframe oriented stuff is still in OS X. Like
the timeshare accounting system, which appears to be intact except for
sending the bill...
