Rich, If file processing speed is the main reason for changing from Windows 98 to XP, my advice would be to keep your Windows 98, and invest in more internal memory. Processor speed and internal RAM memory can improve file handling speed much more than any change of Windows OS can. (I have heard that some Linux OS could speed things up, but this is not the best OS for soundrecording and editing.) Just remember that Windows 98 can only handle so much internal memory, I don't know exactly how much, but my computer handles its 128 MB very nicely. How much internal memory do you have now? Could it be 32 or 64 MB? And, which soundcard(s) do you have/use ? Regards, Evert ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
