Tricky if you did not know at the time you had seen it! I have ticked from a
photo but I claim justification - before I was a birder I lived in India
(what a wasted opportunity) and when I became a birder I reviewed all my
Indian photos. There was only one identifiable bird and I figured I had
clearly seen this as it was the subject of the photo - if you "find"
something in a photo that was not the main subject then could be trickier.

Indeed.
I'd tick it, but I've ticked a bird from a photo I took 2 years before
I started birding. I was flicking through photos of a trip to Perth
the other day and thought "ooh, that's a Laughing Turtle-Dove, on you
go then!"
