Indeed.

I'd tick it, but I've ticked a bird from a photo I took 2 years before
I started birding. I was flicking through photos of a trip to Perth
the other day and thought "ooh, that's a Laughing Turtle-Dove, on you
go then!"

Well, you were there, the bird was there, there's no question of ID (I
assume), so why not?

My personal rule is that if it's going to be a tick you've got to rule
out all other possibilities, and if that includes taking a photo or a
recording away for later analysis that's fine.
