I hope I can explain the COM3 bit a little...  COM3 like COM<x> and
LPT<x> are DOS file handle names that do not transition to *NIX at all
:)  In modern kernels with dynamic device node allocation there's no
guarantee of what a device nodes name will be.  COM3 on the TS-GSM1
board just means it's on IO address 0x3f8 (or 2f8?) IRQ 3, not that it
would show up at ttyS3.
