H J,
If you can't get the URL to work then just do a google search for
'gentoo ts72xx', and you'll have 2 main results. The first one is an
article I wrote to build an EABI kernel and userland using Gentoo, and
the second contains the link I sent earlier. They're almost identical
except for EABI specific things.
My best advice, if you want to do any package management and not just
overwrite existing files by extracting tarballs, is qmerge from
protage-utils. Qmerge also has respects the INSTALL_MASK environment
variable which is handy for removing *.h *.a *.la /usr/share/doc
/usr/share/man/usr/share/info, from an installation.
Keep in mind, using qmerge to overwrite qmerge will not work. It's also
a good idea not to use it or busybox, the system C library, etc.
Portage-utils are still a work in development from Ned Ludd and Mike
Frysinger but they make gentoo at least somewhat suitable for embedded
devices. I'm definitely going to be at least using if not contributing
back to portage-utils for some of my projects.
Of course, if you just plan on overwriting existing files, then tar is
your solution :)
Cheers,
Chris
