I normally suggest these for stereo recording, but they work just as well i=
n mono. I'm not sure what they'd do on your Uher, but if you don't mind som=
e soldering you can build your own microphones.
For an omni I'd suggest a Primo EM-172 capsule. For cardioid, an EM-184. B=
oth of these can be had from FEL Communications in the UK (micbooster.com).=
They won't beat a Rode NT1A on noise, but they're quieter than a number of=
other mics I've plugged into my recorder. And at ~10 per capsule they're n=
ot going to break the bank.
I tried to find information on your Uher, but couldn't find out much about=
the microphone input. One question I have is whether the input provides an=
y sort of power. Most of the microphones mentioned so far are condensers, a=
nd would require phantom power. Does the Uher provide this? If not, a P48 s=
upply may be something else you'd need to consider.
The Primo capsules I mentioned are designed to operate on lower voltages: =
~1.5-10Vdc. They can be wired to work with P48 or with the lower voltages h=
andheld recorders typically use for their plug-in-power. If your Uher doesn=
't provide phantom power, the Primo capsules can be wired to use an externa=
l battery for power as well.
Cheers,
Tom
