The problem with creation dates and memory cards is a general problem with =
Mac's.

It is also a problem when importing digital image files.
I use 'A Better Finder Attributes' so for image files you can get it to tak=
e the information in the EXIF, of the time and date the image was taken, an=
d apply that to the creation date.
You can also set the creation date manually to whatever you want.
I would be so bold to say if you have a Mac you need A Better Finder Attrib=
utes :)

At least in OS X 10.4.11, the modification date is not automatically copied=
into the creation date. The creation date remains blank, no date at all. I=
n Finder view, it's just a series of dashes. That's why one has to use a ut=
ility to copy the date, or manually add it to the name if one is using a re=
corder that does not base the name on the date. Otherwise the original reco=
rding date will be lost as soon as the file is edited.
