What kind of "quality" do people get inspired too, by all "like" on
the web? :-\

Klas,

In other words, it is an objective judgement. Just as it is impossible
to reproduce a pictorial scene, but only to show a representatio of,
say, a landscape. We can only reproduce the effect of a soundscape.
How well we do this is an artistic matter.

I've tried out birdsong recordings on my cats and sometimes they react
but as soon as they discover there are no birds in the room, they lose
interest.

Recording is an art, not an exact reproduction of sounds. We have a
wide range of techniques which this list is all about, but the end
result we want is one which intrigues or excites the listener, not the
one with the best "technical quality". A good sound image must trigger
the imagination, and hold it, unlike with cats.
