What is really good IMO is you can simulate any number of mics with any
polar pattern between Omni though to Fig8.
So relating this to 2 chan or Stereo:-
With straight XY the polar pattern is fixed as is the width as a function o=
f
the acceptance angle.
With MS, the width can easily be varied in post production, but the
effective polar patterns will be dictated by the relative amounts of M&S &=
the polar patter of the "M" mic.
With Double MS (Or Ambisonics) the angle between a mic pair & their polar
patterns can be independently set in post production.
