Just wanted to say thanks to all those who responded to my query. Based on =
the answers I received, I purchased the PCM-M10. I had been leaning toward =
the Olympus, but the info you all posted changed my mind. I've had it almo=
st a week now and have had a chance to use it a bit. So far I am very happ=
y with it. Next step is to look into external mics, wind shields, etc. I =
see that background noise and wind can be a problem, and I will have to dea=
l with that. I suspect those are things you don't solve overnight, and lear=
n to handle through trial and error.
In particular, I wanted to mention that the M10 comes with the BEST manual =
I have ever seen for digital electronics gear, Including the many digicams =
I have owned. It is actually written in good English! Only weakness is th=
e table of contents/index, which could be more thorough.
Thanks again for the help, and I look forward to gleaning info from your po=
sts and picking you brains once again if the need arises.

Don Morgan

10? I am primarily interested in recording bird songs and nature sounds. =
I will likely need to use a shotgun or other external mic at times.
