The Olympus LS-11 was introduced last year, with a typical street price of
$380. Now it costs less than $300, shipping included, from established vendors
like Amazon.com and Buy.com.
I still think the Olympus LS series recorders have the best ergonomics of any
small audio recorder. The current model, LS-11, has several improvements,
including longer battery life (more than 20 hours, according to Olympus), more
internal flash memory (now 8GB), and less bass roll-off below 100 Hz.
The Sony PCM-M10 ($251 from B&H Photo Video) has captured the most attention in
the "less than $300" group of portable audio recorders, and with some
justification.
With the recent price reduction, Olympus is back in the game.
