When I tested my pair of K6's/ME66's I was using a SoundDevices MixPre into a Sony MZRH1, for me when the K6 was powered by the AA cell the self noise was more objectionable. I didn't do any measurements it was purely by ear. It may be that the self noise is still 10db but the quality of the noise changes making it more noticeable? I haven't got the recordings I made anymore, and having just moved house I have still to unpack the MixPre and my recorders. ( Why does it seem to take so much longer to unpack than pack? But that's another thing all together.) Phil |
