Hi David I don't have a Rode NTG 2, but I do have Sennheiser K6/ME66 which can be powered by either a 1.5v AA cell or phantom power. To my ears when powered by the battery I find them much noisier than when powered by phantom power. The stated self noise of the ME66 is 10db which I would concur with when running on phantom and comparing with an AT3032. It may be that the self noise is still 10db when on battery power it is just much more objectionable to me. So I would try your NTG 2 with phantom from the FR2-LE and have a listen, as the FR2-LE can supply phantom anyway so this might be a better way of working. Regards Phil |
