i dont use hot glue, but spray with high voltage insulation. it forms a con=
formable coating, which is solderable for repairs. i used hot glue a few ti=
mes but=A0it is too messy when it comes to repairs.

In addition to what Paul has done here, I've bought a Neutrik's 5 pin
female to 3 pin male adapter. I always keep this in a pocket in my the
bag that holds the recorder (camera bag).
This allows me to plug in my single channel shotgun (on a short 2
metre 'mono' cable) without having to remove the 'Y' from the recorder
inside the bag.
As for waterproof connectors, I read somewhere (tapersection maybe)
that someone has used a hotglue gun to fill around the soldered joints
before final assembly of the connector. I've not tried this though.
I'd want to check the continuity of the joints before commiting to the
glue though.
