I occasionally use mains power. For example, I occasionally set up my 744T (using timed record) to record the dawn chorus outside my house, but want to get up somewhat after dawn. This requires me to use mains power because none of my batteries will last all night, even in stand- by mode. The only problem I have had with this is AC (60 Hz) hum. It seems to depend which outlet I plug into. Or perhaps it is the routing of the extension cord. Anyway, I always need to check the setup for hum before I leave it. Once I eliminate the hum, it works just fine. |
