As another SD702 user (two months now) I'm interested if this is a
battery issue particularly as I'm about to get a couple of Sony
NP-F970 batteries. The L-ion batteries used in the SD7xx have minds
of their own which seem to be affected by high loads (as in lights on
DVD cameras) and kind of charging cycles (where the batteries are not
regularly drawn right down before recharging). Some people have had
poor experiences with those non name batteries with the attractive
(low) prices although I would not expect SD to skimp on batteries they
supply with their recorders if your using the OEM battery.

CF memory cards can have their own issues. I leave the card installed
in the recorder and copy the files off the recorder as the CF nears
capacity and always at the end of the day. Once the files are copied
and backed up I'll delete the files off the CF card. Every month I'll
reformat the CF card. Every year since I began recording to CF cards
(started with a Fostex FR2) I've upgraded CF cards annually (Moore's Law).
I've yet to have file problems and certainly don't want to start with
the SD702.
