Easy to do later. The reason people put it in preamps and/or 
recorders is for monitoring stereo in the field. Some people have no 
problem listening to MS, I'd rather hear it decoded myself.

No problem.

Then look at Sound Devices 442.

I think you mean high pass (same as low cut). A good survival tool 
when things get difficult.

The only Sound Devices products with converters are the 7xx recorders 
and the USBPre, not to be confused with MixPre.

Balanced input, quiet preamps, 48V phantom, lots of gain, metering, 
high-pass filters, long battery life.
