I once recorded by accident on my Edirol R4 in 24/96 mode. When I downgraded to 16/44.1 I definitely could hear the loss in quality, in detail mostly and lack of airyness, ie ambient space. A friend said already years ago: they brought out the CD system too soon. They should have waited for at least 16 bit and possibly a higher sample rate. Now we're stuck... But it pays to start as high as you can. After all, why otherwise would studios have all this highend stuff with us listening through our MP3 players? If the source is right it'll manifest itself through even the simplest of systems. :-) Paul Delcour Paul Delcour APart CD & DVD Productions JH Meijerstraat 3 1214 NG Hilversum 035-6231629 |
