Either listen with a mic connected or with a dummy > input (150 Ohm resistor for balanced mics, 2000 Ohms for electret > capsule). If you are using more than one terminator then it's probably best to make all with matched precision resistors. Ordinary resistors have quite a bit of variation in value. It's not a big issue, but is another variable that should be eliminated for comparisons of small differences. Note that meters, if used, come in various levels of precision too. To me, ideally you would use a terminating resistance that matched the particular mic you intended to use. Walt |
