You should be fine with that gear combination. Its a matter of
finding the component or setting that is to blame. They last time we
had a similar problem, a faulty MKH-30 was to blame.
Maybe try (if you haven't already):
(1) Confrim the mic/cable are okay by running them directly into the
828 (phantom on).
(2) Confirm the art II is okay by connecting it (48 volt setting)
between the TLM103 and the 822 (phantom off)]
(3) If these are working okay, reconnect TLM103-> ArtII-> 822 and
substitute the unbalanced adapter cable/MZ-RH1 for the 822. If the
noise jumps way up, double-check the unbalanced adapter cable, the
Hi-MD input you are using, the Hi-MD recorder settings, the buttons
on the Art,.. Its got to be something. My guess is its the
unbalanced adapter cable
