Dan,
I have a dish with 183's and I have two wind covers
for the rim of the dish. The first is a very thin and
porous material, I can not hear any difference in the
sound level using headphones when the cover is in
place or when I remove it. The second cover is long
fur without a heavy base on a non coated, one way
stretch fabric, . The fabric looks to be more
transparent than the red fox photo posted. When I
place this over the rim I can hear a noticeable drop
in volume. I now just use the heavy cover when the
light cover needs help.
