I don't know how much moving around you'll be doing, but stuffing it all
into a mono windscreen might result in the mics bumping around in there
too much. I get an occasional bump with my rig in the full sized stereo
windscreen if I'm hiking or jumping around too much. Besides that, the
more of an air layer you have inside the windscreen, the higher the wind
outside the screen can get without causing distortion. So, yes, it's a
huge windscreen, but yes, there's also a reason for it.
