For those considering recording short 1 min segments out of each hour, remember that sometimes dawn and/or dusk choruses last only 20 - 25 minutes and you may not get a sense of dynamic if the one minute you're set to record fails to capture all or part of those moments. I prefer to record longer segments to capture that dynamic and variable - typically 1 hour during each of four periods (dawn chorus, midday, dusk, night).
