I'm all ready to accept that self-noise for the MD consumer mic pres
is <13dBA, believe me! However, every time I test for this though
with actual mics at our disposal, I'm not able to confirm it. The
below link is a 9mb (earlier) test you might be able to download
over-night. After listening to the test, how does one explain the
better performance of the 183's if the mic pre isn't introducing
noise for the NT4 with its 17dBA self noise? Shure specs the 183
with more self noise at 23 dBA.

I'll be doing some more tests running the same mics through a MD mic
pre and then an MP2. I have an EM-23 that's wired PIP. If Doug has a
EM-23 wired phantom that he can send me for this test, that would be
great! Do you have a sensitivity rating for the EM-23? I'll compare
the EM-23 to other PIP/bat powered mics. I'll be happy to snail mail
you all of the tests on a CD. Rob D.

My tests are with a sony NH-900 HiMD recorder. ~1.8 volts unloaded.
