Doesn't seem like there's enough difference in our deck voltages to
explain the extreme performance differences. I experience no lack of
headroom like you describe. Even tested them on Saturday under a loud
bridge.
these are the only variables I can think of:
bad connection(s) (TA-4'a are no breeze to solder)
bad or wrong model # cap(s) #R183B?
bad C122 cables
multiple, bad pip decks
Is the performance exactly the same when you switch the both the
cables and caps around?
What happens when only one mic is plugged into your adapter?
Solder up another, new adapter or re-solder the first one? (TA's are
kind of expensive,..)
It could be you got bad heads or cables from Shure. Since you didn't
cut off your connectors, you could take the 183's to try at a mic
rental house? 183's are common heads for Shure wireless units.
