I'm not sure we know what operating voltage is best for the 183's,
yet. Maybe a variable voltage power supply could tell us. I'm using a
pair at 3.5 volts (pip) and I don't get distortion from typical,
urban, LoHz saturations when my record levels are set correctly. The
183's are hot compared to all other pip mics I used before and I'm
still getting used to what typical, (lower) settings are. I would not
describe the 183's as frequency response challenged. Rob D.
