I made a post about my experience of overmodulated bass when
recording to MZ-R37, even in moderate sound pressure level scenarios
such as standing on the streetcorner. More recently, I experienced
overmodulation on some voice recordings with the same rig.
I do suspect a powering issue with the MZ-R37 MD here. the
Plug-In-Power supplied by that model of MD is pretty anemic. I have
yet to test the mics with a different powering scenario. I will try
with my PCM-M1 DAT and also with Shure phantom adapters/grace preamp.
I'll report if there's anything worth reporting.
Anybody in SF (aaron?) have a plug-in-power box I could try?
