Glad (and somewat surprised) to hear that the push start / clutch pop method
is still possible in modern vehicles with manual transmission. I'm pretty
sure it's impossible to do with an automatic.

It's just a safety mechanism that could probably be disabled; likely
implemented to avoid turning the key and having the vehicle lurch forward if
it is in gear and the clutch not depressed. (I admit to doing just that
years ago when learning to drive, had to get out and dislodge the front of
the Accord from a cement parking barrier)
In (some) new vehicles, the power is on when the key is turned, but the
starter won't engage (or something like that) unless the clutch is depressed
(as I think you alluded to in an earlier paragraph). In older vehicles I
used to get a rolling start very frequently when parked on an incline; just
turn the key to 'on', put in 2nd gear, start rolling & gain a BIT of speed,
then quickly release the clutch...voila! But that newer chev could not be
started in this manner (fully charged battery & all...)
I guess the test is to put the vehicle in gear, don't touch the clutch, and
try to start it. If it lurches forward, then the clutch popping method WILL
WORK. If it just sits there and does nothing until you depress the clutch,
better hope for a Toyota-like over ride button....or carry a cucumber,
portadisc, or spare battery!

I was wondering if anyone has and MKH 60 or MKH 30 they, or someone
they know, would like to sell?
